I have a confession to make. I have a deep-seated fear of bridges. It comes from a place of control and anxiety in me, and when I think about bridges, especially over water, I can feel my blood pressure increase and my pulse rise.
I hesitate to even state the exact fear that I have of bridges and why, but suffice it to say that I have to diligently work on taking my thoughts captive and replacing them with Truth, or allowing the thoughts to come and go without being controlled by them.
It has taken work, and continues to take work, each time I cross a bridge in a vehicle, but ultimately it has forced me to face an aspect of myself that has crept up in many areas of my life. For me, this is the essence of control. I have a desire to control things, and have had to ultimately learn over time to choose to trust God in all things, even the things that I do not understand, which allows me to be free from the fear of the terrible and enjoy the treasures of the day.
