“And He said, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’” - Ex. 33:14

Moses struggled with confidence and often asked God to reassure him. It would have been reasonable for God to reprimand him for his struggle, but He didn’t. He met him where he was.

Too often we are far more harsh with ourselves or others than the God of the universe is. While He surely upholds His righteous standards, He is gentle and patient with those who humbly yet imperfectly walk with Him.

He does not demand perfection. Obedience? Of course. But, He knows our frame and we are but dust. He knows we will struggle with fears, anxieties, lies, and temptations. He knows us far better than we know ourselves. And He is gentle and kind.

He is the perfect upholder of boundaries. He loves without compromise and yet is just in His eternal laws. He does not change Himself for us, yet extends mercy, grace, and compassion.

I have often cried out for wisdom and guidance, seeking His mercy and grace for my failings and struggles. In His gracious character, He has held me in His perfect peace, even when my emotions and thoughts provided me with nothing but despair. His Word was a necessary anchor for my soul.

Life is not always the smoothest journey, and I would argue that many of our struggles are God-given Job experiences to fortify and test us. Hold firmly to Him, continue to seek Him and His Truth, and never give the enemy a foothold in your heart or mind.

Speak to your soul the Truth of who God says He is and ask Him to show you how He sees your situation. Then, follow Him in obedience, even when your flesh struggles. This journey isn’t an easy one, but that doesn’t mean that you’re doing it wrong. It simply means that you have received ample opportunities for God to reveal Himself more deeply to you.

Stand firm. Be still. Hold tight. And never let Him go.

Good morning #coffeewiththeking friends ❤️ Thank You Lord for another day with breath in my lungs and life in my body.

This morning I read Exodus and the portion that I am reading is the detailed instructions for the building of the tabernacle. What stands out as noteworthy is the very precise steps and guidance God gives to His people and what His space is to look like. He establishes firmly who He is and what He is due as God.

How much we can learn about His character in every step of the way. He is both gracious and firm, direct and kind, merciful and just, holy and long-suffering. He extends such mercy towards a people deserving of judgment over and over because of this long-suffering essence of His nature.

And as a person who desires to become more and more like Him, I am called to extend the same. We use the word “patience” in place of long-suffering, but it doesn’t always convey the same sentiment. Very often we become worn out from “loving” people and establish a limit to our love that eventually says, “I’m done.”

But His love is long-suffering. He is never done with us, and while He may withdraw Himself when we reject and push Him away, He never leaves those who cry out to Him in humility.

He says He is with the broken-hearted and oppressed. May we seek Him in our times of sorrow and not the fulfillment and distractions of the world.

He is a God of order, not chaos; of peace, not confusion; of love, not hatred. His love contains healthy boundaries, absolutely, for love is not love without Truth. His desire is relationship, not blind obedience of compliance. He walks with us when we do not understand and have questions.

So, while we stumble on in our human efforts to be more like Him, may we be open to His guidance, receive correction with humility, and hold tightly to His strength to keep loving when it is hard (especially in times of betrayal).

May we never lose sight of who He is and who we are, that we too extend grace, forgiveness, and mercy to each other just as He extends it to us.

Finished a few more projects this weekend. Laid t

Finished a few more projects this weekend. Laid the cardboard and soil for the garden area near the A/C unit, pulled the mulch back about 6 inches from the house (to prevent termite issues apparently 🤷🏻‍♀️) and used wood we had to create a separation between the wood mulch and the pebbles (which happens to be an excellent place for the hose to run along the house), and added a hose holder to keep it wrapped up instead of splayed around the garden 🤩. Loving it!

The back yard is quickly becoming a beautiful place to hang out 🤩. Can’t wait to get some flowers and plants in to round out the new beds ❤️❤️❤️

What a joy it is to see two finches enjoying a breakfast of aphids from our side garden 🤩

Engaging with creation gives me such joy and peace in my soul. It takes work, but we were designed for work and the garden is certainly the original place for that work ❤️

Take time to enjoy creation and give thanks to the Creator. Slow down. Breathe it in. Listen to the trees blow in the wind and the birds chirping their lovely songs.

Create moments to be present to the beautiful gifts that He’s designed for our joy and His glory. Enjoy the work of His hands and our partnership to manage ❤️

Evolution of our backyard landscaping. Working ha

Evolution of our backyard landscaping. Working hard to make the yard maintainable this summer, and I’m so excited to have this corner under control. Now praying that I can keep the THICK grass under control between the cardboard and heavy mulch. We shall see. At worst hopefully it softens the soil to remove the roots in the future.

Working on the yard soothes my soul. It provides a quiet time to put my efforts into something physical that gets me out of my head.

There is something so important about hobbies that engage our minds fully so that we can just be, especially in a culture that keeps us spinning in busyness.

I encourage you to find some fun hobbies to bring joy and peace in times of mental and emotional stillness ❤️
